A teaser of their first track from the EP another World is out now. The small trailer for the track from their forthcoming EP Another World on Secretely Canada has just been out on Youtube. The album will be a treasure chest of what Antony is known to love of the world and expresses that he will miss a lot of natures greatest mysteries. It is a really a hypnotic testimony for his love of the natural world.

Antony and the Johnsons also plan to release an album titled The Crying Light in January next year. Another World will be first single from that album and it will be released as part of the five songs Another World EP. The picture on top is part of the cover art of the EP.

It will also include the song Shake That Devil. That is more of an exorcism of sorts where Antony calls out perpetrators and banishes them one by one.

Two other surreal songs are also included in this EP Crackagen and Sing For Me. The epic Hope Mountain will close the EP. The whole song is about a flood that has engulfed a town and people gather on top of a mountain to witness a girl walking on the water. I just cant wait for this EP to come out soon.

The glorious duo from Baltimore who brought us their dreamy album titled Devotion. It was one of the finest albums that came out this year. They would like to bring this year to close with a short tour and a new dreamy single to end on a high note. Used To Be is the new single that has just featured on IMeem player. The track is laced with some ethereal vocals and some dreamy backing guitar riffs. This is surely not something close to what they did on their album. But it is sure to bring in more new fans to this really small band.

They will be going back on the road to promote the single and album. So make sure you don’t miss these guys wherever they travel.

These guys have been driving their ambient rock music all over the place. Their last album Return of the Cookie Monster had some interesting tracks that made such a great album. They burst on the scene once again with a new EP titled Dear Science. It is sure going to be another mesmerizing track. But I really can’t wait for Of Montreal to bring out their album soon. Here is the video of their new song called Golden Age.

The new video from the highly anticipated album is as wacky as ever. The track is from their upcoming album. The track is titled Get Born. There is this crazy Gorilla walking around the song. But don’t be fooled by that the band is still as noisy as ever. So make sure you get into the world of Deerhoof before they hit it really big.

Here is a list of some of the hot anticipated albums coming this Fall.

Entertainment Weekly has brought out a list of albums. There are some familiar faces in the list and some hugely anticipated ones.

TV on the Radio

After their hugely successful Return to Cookie Mountain, these guys have cemented a brand new sensibility with their music. The follow up album to Cookie Mountain is called Dear Science and will feature some of themes of love and joy from their last album. It will also include their weird ramblings on old fashioned politics.

T.I.

We had already talked about this album some time back. The Atlanta rapper has spent the past doing court ordered community service after a weapons charge. So make sure to get hold of his new album that will be very vocal and honest. It is surely going to be one of his more definitive pieces.

Jennifer Hudson

Finally the Oscar winning actress is coming out with her solo album. Singer Jennifer Hudson who got into the limelight after getting a huge fan following in the American Idol. She will be next seen with Dakota Fanning in Secret Life of Bees and Heavenly Creatures. Her album will be in stores on September 30 th

John Legend

A Kanye West right hand man seems to be ruling the airwaves with his soulful piano renditions. His third album will feature Andre 3000 and Kanye West. His collaboration with Estelle was one of the biggest discoveries of the year. The single American Boy took the chart by storm featuring Kanye West.

Pink

The headline grabbing artist Pink is all set to release her next. The album will feature another set of brash party starters. The first single So What draws a lot from many of the newspaper articles on the artist. Her album is called Fun House and will be releasing on October 28 th.

Bloc Party

The British mad house rockers are all ready for their third album release. The Silent Alarm put them on the map. They are now set to bring in some layered electronic strums to their explosive post punk sound. This time around they will explore heartbreak. It will be out on October 28 th

Fall Out Boy

They are about to scream into our households on November 4 th. The album is titled in French. They had jumped into the scene with a more post punk edgy sound but now have matured something more unique and having being carrying the weight of their individuality. With Election Day drawing near these guys are sure to take their stand with this new album.

David Archuleta

He came in second but he was one of my favorites. He won the final round to make him one of the sure shot American Idol finds. His album will be coming out a week before the American Idol David Cook’s album. There is surely going to be a tussle at the top of the Billboard for those consecutive weeks.

Ludacris

Luda is sure to release his next close to T.I. release. The album will be more of a telling of the fact that his mic skills are still strong. This surely be the album that will make people forget the song he sang for Obama and create an awakening of sorts in the rap world of his craft.

Ciara

She will be dropping her album by December. Her energy is surely infectious with this being her third release. I really can’t wait to dance to her pop/R&B grooves. The album is aptly title Fantasy Ride no pun intended.

Beyonce

Rihanna it is time to wake up. Beyonce is all set to Ring the Alarm with her bombasting tunes and soulful voice renditions. People can’t really wait for what she has in store for her fans. With her marriage with Jay Z becoming official, she is sure to have some really interesting thoughts to add in her new album. This is surely going to be another acclamation to her career.

Nickelback

Their last album got them a spot at the top of the Billboard. But the band seems to be loosing steam after some accomplished albums and singles. I think this is one band that really has to rethink what they have worked on for so long. A face lift is surely needed for them to make a change for their unquestionable fans.

Britney Spears

She has probably in the news for all the wrong reasons. But a comeback seems warranted after a dismal showing of her last album. She really has picked herself up after the recent wins at the Video Awards. She is surely going into reinvention mode this season. The album is title Circus and will feature some plush collaborators like Danja, Max Martin and several others. This is surely one record to look out for.

Kanye West

This scintillating artist is all set drop another bomb of an album soon. His artistry proved was way too much for the critics who lavished praise for his showmanship on his last album. The videos that followed really made for some interesting viewing. One of my favorites was Flashing Lights. The imagery in that song really made the visuals in video sublime. So as always here to show a good time Kanye West will dropping both 808’s and Heartbreak this time around a week before Christmas.

Sonic Youth’s Daydream Nation, released in 1988, had been a big venture for the music industry. This was the year of a new Bon Jovi record, a chart smashing My Bloody Valentine and also the Pixies new works. Among all the great things happening in the alternate rock music circuit that year, Sonic Youth released their album through the member line up of Starbucks, Thruston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley. With Moore and Gordon being longtime in the avant garde music scene, Sonic Youth seriously looked to make a creative wave in their sixth album. Their works came out to be effortlessly cool as usual and produced many classics in this double-decker service.

The album bears iconographic symbols important to Sonic Youth that included classic figures like that of each band member being shown on popular labels of classical anthems. It is the same concept used in Zeppelin’s album, Led Zeppelin IV. The work taken up by Youth has been both challenging and one played at the high end of things. All the tracks have been thrilling and have kept up to the challenge that they have intended to present on themselves. They have brought up topics ranging from personal crisis to political, national as well as general humanitarian facades, all in one large collage. They celebrate both the controversial off-beat as well as the popular with streaks of high art as well. For instance, we have the ever popular “Total Trash” that really took the scene of chart busters by storm. There are over 15 tracks in all, packed in this busy and ambitious album. It could have ended up to much an indulgence from the band but actually it deserves every right of celebration for it established its higher credentials through this. Not a single song can be said to have flopped!

The track “Teenage Riot” was written as a result of the strange call for arms and violence by young people, causing massacre and terror. It is also influenced a lot by the concept of the cyber punk as found in William Gibson’s work “The Sprawl”. The song satirizes the intense growth of consumerism and hence the result by which youth get influenced to ask and demand for more. It is also a pun to the Hendrix song “Hey Joe”. The reference to “Eric’s Trip” in this track is also an influence from Andy Warhol’s character Chelsea Girls. If you happen to get the vinyl album edition you are blessed with four discs of work that have stretched across this album. It is both revolutionary plus a cutting-edge to the history of alternate rock music making all the right marks with its importance.

The rather vast double album from The Cure uses extreme moodscaping and great inventive work for themselves, gifting us some of the most popular tracks of all times. The album features songs like “Why Cant I Be You?”, “Catch”, “Hot!Hot!Hot!” as well as “Just Like Heaven”. This particular album certainly ushered cure into the hall of fame. There was a remastered edition of this album released in 2006 that contained a bonus disc of 18 tracks available on a single disc for the first time. One of the longest standing bands in the history of music has been The Cure. Their album Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me was released at a time where dance alternative and happy sounding rock songs could blend and merge and even play all together in one lucky pack. Such was the hype of commercialized fun sounding pleasant music!

The Cure’s big break came through this album itself where you have strutting head-on start with songs like “Hot!Hot!Hot!” and “Why Cant I Be You?”. These are myth breaking space-pop works of art that have listeners of all kinds by their glare. Creations as eternally popular as “Catch” and “Just Like Heaven” aligned beside “The Kiss” and “The Snakepit” which bear testimony of rather expressionistic tone of music that surely got widely received for years later. The overstuffed CD culture got hands-on trial with the works of The Cure, and particularly to mention, this album. The album could run the risk of being a big time loss or a rather overkill but t ended up being this surprising big hit with its intense breakthrough record sales marks.

The album still sounds very refreshing bringing back to us that ’80s synth pop sound in the 2006. The unusual spectacle created by the double CD even included studio records in the 2006 edition. These are indispensable live materials targeted to the more intense Cure fan. Also a great way to bond and create familiarity with the listener, a confidence that only very great bands like The Cure can enjoy with ease. The album, in its entirety, whether it is the older version or the new, is a great gift to listeners of all generations.

The self titled debut album of the band Foo Fighters was released in 1995. It had former Nirvana member, Dave Grohl, performing a majority of the musical work. Along with bassist Nate Mendel, guitarist Pat Smear and drummer William Goldsmith, the self-titled album went on to be listed in Grammy’s Best Alternate Music category in 1996.

The album cover features a youth BB gun, still regarded as a collector’s item. The cover picture was taken by Grohl’s then wife, Jennifer Youngblood. The album reached UK no.3 in the charts and US no.23 as the highest and has been one of the most popular Foo Fighters albums till date. This has been a sheer surprise for listeners who have been used to see Grohl as the drummer of Nirvana. There are major influences of Grohl’s Nirvana days seen hurtling through the album and thus one cannot escape the sheer grunge effect. However one also finds Grohl’s voice to be smoother and crispier than his Nirvana sound. The overall melody of the album as well as the band is a very sunny spirit. There comes some very deep grunge melodies but not as strong as that of Cobain. Songs like “This is a Call” and “Big Me” have been some of the most popular choices from this album. One cannot escape the beam of Grohl’s simplistic yet powerfully charming influence over creating the signature music of the band through this album. Heavier grunge melodies like “I’ll Stick Around” with the very popular “I Don’t Owe You Anything” chant on repeat mode are given out with a very raw mix. The words were round that the song was about Cobain’s widow Courtney Love but have resonated to all time hits charts. The overall take on the album comes to be deliciously grungy and that gets to be liked for its punchy music and playful lyrics. Songs like “Good Grief”, “Floaty”, “For All the Cows” as well as “Exhausted”, make for deep listen with the rest of the more celebrated tracks from the album. The album laid the foundations for more expectations from Grohl and the band as a whole for later day works.

The album released by Fat Cat Records in 2007 has been one of those non-commercial albums released by Mum so far. The fifth album of this Icelandic band sees a new line up altogether. And thus you have members from Gunnar Orn Tynes and Orvar Poreyjarson Smarson as part of this enticing creation. There are two fresh vocalists creating a sound that makes a wholly new Mum.

Imagine a heavenly tropos of mixed instrumental classical music fusing with new age electronica and there you have the fresh, ethereal sound from Mum. They have experimented with various style elements and features and you will welcome that anytime for Mum is never dull for a moment. Songs like “Blessed Brambles” are what you can think of direct influence of Radiohead and then a pre-released single like “They Made Frogs Smoke ‘Til They Exploded” is a great new combination. You would also find some traditional, Mum signature tracks that have that lucid dream like trance about them. They also keep playing around with nursery sounds and ping pong beats. So alternately you have a whole lot of texture, from the heavy to the light there is clarity as well as a trance to the core. “Dancing Behind My Eyelids” is the song to resonate throughout the album and can be said to be the very main vein of the entire structure of the album.

However it still is difficult to find a major theme song in the album and many critics would argue that the album is best approached as a soundtrack for a movie. Mum’s elven sounds and mystic aura delivers an independent stroke that cannot be generally approached in straight square measures. The band’s prowess with major electronica is clearly reflected through each of the tracks in the album.

They create perfectly asymmetric art form with their eclectic choice in sounds and their experimentations. The album develops its uniqueness and individuality after a few good long listens with most people. Many would just want Mum to seep in that way which is a greatly rewarding process!

This has been a long work being released after three years’ of Mum’s creative break. The album efficiently captures the atmospheric chill of Iceland. One finds shades of the ethereal, mystic, the childish and the playful as well as that of the misfit and the odd packed in this wonderful collage.

The music is not something that you had been expecting but not at all something that you would be disappointed with either. The new line-up is surely a surprise gift!

Mogwai is ironic again as they had been with their previous release, Rock Action. But then you do not feel as down as the “Ratts of the Capital” after a listen. The songs are edgy and high techno as well as high on the percussion in some cases. So they are definitely gonna lift you up from any momentous spasm or any mood as such. Though happy isn’t what you might feel, this isn’t another dark album either. There is sardonic laughter but you can laugh and feel light about it too! The brooding style statement of Mogwai has been replaced here with a rather simple and beautiful, emotionally healing statement. There is heavy pressure or restrain as in Rock Action.Neither would you feel that the current listening is a rehashed statement or a continuity of lengths of the previous one. This is something that is being too common and unfair with most bands. That ever stretched, draining and harping is not present even when Mogwai is being cynical. The understated yet lively track, “Kids Will Be Skeletons” and the dense final of “Stop Coming to My House” are all great rewards that a Mogwai creation makes for a profound as well as light listening. One finds levity even amidst the most serious and that is how Mogwai cannot dull the senses with overpowering cynicism as many bands among the electric rock genre get to do. ? There are plies and piles more of synth, distorted drums and guitar lines mixing in a crazy blend of mismatched harmony with each other. The band has cleverly appointed a great deal of noisy dynamism that belies some of the lullaby backgrounds. For instance in “Killing All the Flies” this aspect is particularly noticeable. The songs are not long and ultra extended like many of the Mogwai songs that were there in the band’s early days. But then there is lucidity as well as brevity in the slightly longer and a very edgy “Ratts of the Capital”. This particular track itself is over eight minutes in order. There are dark guitars, chime bells, xylophones — all blending into a very orgasmic climax. The darkest moments too blend with heavenly charm and beauty. There are rich, mellow bass blending in tune with smooth piano riffs in “Golden Porsche” that takes on a vivid exploration into the American post-rock era. While the track, “I Know You Are But What Am I?” has this rise and fall of assymetrical piston-like rhythm and starry twinkles on the synth. The album, in conclusion, is mystical and alluring, sarcastic and deep, sad and light, bearing these juxtaposed dual aspects of opposing elements of nature.

The studio album by the new-wave, post-punk band She Wants Revenge, released in 2006 also covers some of the added-on features of a Darkwave, Synthpop group. The band as well as the album cannot be categorized thus in to any one foreboding chamber. There are differing nuances to the entire concept of the album and that throws it apart even when you start clamoring for its place as the neo-darkwave. The 60 plus minutes album is the debut work from the band and surprisingly matured. Produced by Michael Patterson, the album is best understood back to front, like a spy thriller. The cover design on the back shows you only what you miss in the front and that is, the woman is holding a huge knife behind her back!

She Wants Revenge has the added sound that seems likely and also self-admittedly recognized by the band that has been influenced by myriad sounds, including that of Garbage, New Order, Joy Division as well as that of Depeche Mode. However their plethora or dark sarcasm hits at many places at greater degrees that leave us with the open questions. Primarily we are left with the question that even if the music is multifarious how can one live entirely through sarcasm, considering the name of the band. We have seen many bands starting more on the dark and melancholy mood coming into cornered chambers due to their own recalcitrant and confining natures. Even if there is no doubt that the music party of experiments has only started with the band, aren’t we just tad too tired of too much of dark apathy lingering in the air, as much as happy boy bands betook the ‘90s. The question of dark charms overriding the mystery of being proliferated with the greater musical talents of the band will only be delivered with time. Till now we keep humming to She Wants Revenge, alongside Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.

The important tracks to have made a remarkable wave have been “These Things’’ and “Tear You Apart”. Overall She Wants Revenge is perfectly wonderful creation that also reminds you of more electronicised Danse Society or a lot of early Suicide or The Sisters of Mercy trapped in the cyber spasms of retaliation psychology coming up with the more complex relationships that occur with the coming of age.

Garbage has been regarded as one smart band that has done experimental music but never played around too much with the audience. Their passionate rendition of music creates waves of charm that has only expanded over the years. Bleed Like Me is their fourth album but took a long time in release. With the return of celebrity drummer Butch Vig Garbage went on to work with the new album. Manson’s unique voice with its classical features goes on to rip off the so long repressed feelings.
The song “Bad Boyfriend” opens with the Blondie like cantaloupe singing but there is even bigger drumming than ever on the first track of the album. Mod rock’s pet, John Bonham comes on to rescue with the additional work with the music on this song. Manson plays like the predatory and ever charming seducer in every breathy wisp of mellow tones cutting the edges of raspy sexiness. The beauty of Manson’s voice takes the album on to higher levels of ecstasy and there is no control to the desire for pleasure coming from a feminist perspective. However there is enough sarcasm at play, especially when you have it coming from the voice of a woman enjoying the game of power struggle, a conscience that almost every urban and powerful woman of today would have to struggle with! There is sustained pleasure in the album line up. The best is yet to come whenever you think that the best track has been given out. “Right between the Eyes” and “Why Do You Love Me” will make you think of Blue Oyster Cult. There is no surprise that “Run Baby Run” is very refreshing in the ears than the covers done by new bands like Kasabian or Bloc Party. Manson’s atomic pleading are all powerful punches to the senses, a.k.a. Deborah Harry or even better, just like her signature style. There are powerful distortion chords at work with most of the songs, playfully tuned to match her oozing charm. You could think even New Order could not do a better job. If Marilyn Manson or Trent Reznor is doing a good job with their synth pop styles then it is time we let Garbage to the work with the machines. They are much better any day even making machines bleed singing through scabrous distortion and music that at times oozes the pain of want, the thoroughfare of the melancholic.

Quadrophenia is a concept album based around the rock opera genre. The album is actually based on the film Quadrophenia, the musical journey to which was performed by The Who. This double album, released in 1973, has been the group’s second rock opera album. The first one was Tommy that too got released as part of a concept play. Like Tommy, Quadrophenia too focuses on the psychological and social developments of a young boy who is constantly under the pressure to perform and fit into designated social roles. The entire concept album reminds the listener of important works of fiction such as Catcher in the Rye, Look Back in Anger and even, Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. Overall the situation of the young social anarchist who aches to fit in but cannot cope up with the adult and intensely political life around him is the running vein of the album.
The title is the incorrect pronunciation of the mental disease of schizophrenia. The theme is of course schizophrenia left undiagnosed, or rather misunderstood. The very fact that schizophrenia has mostly been misunderstood by people, it comes to the fact that it is society who is at fault to have been unable to deal the young adults who have been under subjugation to this. Individualistic psychological disorders, at the less damaging states, are the diseases of the mind that are largely subjective to various underlying social threats and pressures.

The protagonist of the opera, Jimmy, has been said to be down with schizophrenia or multiple personality or even split personality disorder. However the four different sides of the boy also represent the differing as well as converging systems of anarchy in society that may be shared through in a singular individual person. The four members of the band take their share of the multiple personality play. The “quartet” of Jimmy’s feature are supposedly the resemblances of the loony characteristics of the four members that form The Who. The title is also a symbol of the introduction of the Quadrophonic sound at that age.
The album was initially introduced as an LP with two sets having a fabulous butterfly jacket ensemble to go with it. Pete Townshend revealed that the idea had evolved from their co-created band autobiography, Rock is Dead — Long Live Rock. Especially if one looks into the two of the most singularly popular tracks from this rock opera, then the two songs “Is It in My Head?” and “Love Reign O’er Me”, then one understands that these were solo releases from The Who back in 1972. Overall the rock opera album enjoys one of the premier positions as a concept album in the history of rock music. It enjoyed the No.2 position in U.S. Billboard chart for a considerably long time and has been the source of inspiration for many latter works for the generations following it. We can even hear one of the greatest covers made of “Love Reign O’er Me” by Pearl Jam, and this being one among the many prestigious tribute covers made to The Who.

SNOW PATROL’s drummer Jonny Quinn has spoken about their new album.

The title of the follow-up to 2006’s Eyes Open has been revealed as One Hundred Million Suns and Jonny said: “We were in the same studios in Berlin where U2 recorded Achtung Baby.

“It’s still very much melody based, but it’s different too in ways from the other albums.

“It’s hard to know what everyone will make of it but we’re happy. I’d go as far as to say I think it’s our best album.”

The group also want to start touring their sound live as soon as possible.

Jonny added: “The new album should be out some time later this year, maybe October.

“We certainly want to get home to play a gig for everyone next year but we’ll probably play a few smaller ones, with any luck, before Christmas.”
