Originally titled “39 Minutes of Bliss”, the Kasabian album has made great marks on the alternate rock industry. Weeks within its release it reached UK number 4 on chart. The album also got to be one of the top 100 releases of Amazon’s Editor’s Pick in 2005.

The album is progressive processed work on electronica. Their song “Club Foot” has been dedicated to the deceased Czech student Jan Palach, who committed suicide in political protest through his self-immolation. The song is largely about the Soviet governmental policies that intervened in Chechoslovakian politics which led to the Prague Spring. The song has also famously come in the motion picture The Guardian. This song also appeared on the film Goal! It just goes onto show how popular some of the tracks of the album have been, as they have got numerously used in video games and trailers of some of the most popular video games that target teenagers and young adults.

One of the tracks of this album, “Reason is Treason” has been used as one of the main tracks of Gran Turismo 4 as well as Major League Baseball 2K8. “Reason is Treason” has also been featured in the motion picture Tomb Raider.

The track, “L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)” had been released as a single and had also shared the spot of fame by being covered by popular artists like Mark Ronson, in his album, Version. New Musical Express’s list of the most popular Indie anthems of all times saw L.S.F. on number 37. This track too soared higher in popularity list being the soundtrack of the video game FIFA Football 2004.

Kasabian’s eponymous album Kasabian also saw the inclusion of the track “Cut Off”, which later got released as a single too. The single version of this popular chartbuster is a reworking of the album edition only. However nothing has come to deploy the popularity of this particular signature track of the band.

Tom Meighan’s vocals and the great lyrics merge beautifully with the electro funk beat of the band’s style. The album cut out a hallmark position for the band that has a great promise to make creative differences in the alternate rock scenario of Britain. The current album has had rave reviews drawing attention to the band on the same lines as that of early Oasis, The Stone Roses and Primal Scream. Their softness deftly keeps their voice political angst and questions over the darker and unrecognized sides of social anarchy, smooth and acceptable.
